Community and Position Summary
Woods Cross is a community of 11,500 located in South Davis County. With 17 sworn officers,
one civilian staff member, and a $3.1 million-dollar annual budget, the department enjoys a
supportive city council, administrative staff, citizenry, and close cooperation with neighboring agencies. The City is looking for a community-oriented chief that is comfortable working in a midsized department that requires handling a variety of duties that range from executive functions to filling in on patrol shifts or accidents when needed.

We are looking for an empowering leader who will serve their team and organization first and who is willing to teach, mentor, and engage with staff and other city departments to foster a culture of innovation, integrity, and collaboration. Duties include broad policy guidance for all department personnel directly or through subordinate supervisors. Establishes department goals, objectives, policies, procedures, budget, culture, and provides for their implementation. Works with administrative staff and city council to create laws that uphold a clean, orderly, and law-abiding community. Establishes and maintains liaison with justice court; prosecutors; correctional agencies; federal, state and local law enforcement agencies; and the news media. This is an at-will, exempt position regulated by the term of UCA10-3-1105(c)(i).

Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree in police science, criminology, business administration or related field. Ten years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience in municipal government, with 2 years of that experience in a command level supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary Range and Benefits
The annual salary range is between $116,657 and $180,818 with a starting salary that is
commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for benefits and the City offers a
generous benefits package including health, dental, life and short/long term disability insurance. The City participates in Utah Retirement System (URS). Other benefits include sick and vacation leave, holiday pay, a flexible work schedule, and City provided vehicle and cell phone.
